Antique pomander German parcel-gilt

An antique parcel-gilt pomander,

of globular form, the domed foot pierced to the underside and with six lugs, unscrews to reveal dabber, the spherical body engraved to the exterior with floral motifs and depictions of eagles, opening out into six segments, each with slide-off cover engraved with:

  1. KANEL (Cinnamon)
  2. MUSCATEN (Nutmeg)
  3. ROSMARIN (Rosemary)
  4. SCHLAG  (Apoplexy)
  5. NEGELKEN (Cloves)
  6. ROSEN (Roses)
