
A gem set gold cross

polished yellow gold, centred with an oval cabochon sapphire in a raised mount
encircled by a wide band of opaque green enamel, further set with four round
moonstones in ropetwist settings,the terminals enamelled with a band of green
and white chevrons and each set with a moonstone, the parts joined by bolts
secured with floret heads

Henry Wilson (1864-1934) was a leading figure in the Arts & Crafts movement. He trained
as an architect before becoming a jeweller. He taught metalwork in the Central school of
Arts & Crafts and the Royal Academy of Art. In 1903 he wrote his seminal
book 'Silver work and Jewellery'
