An Enamel and Gem-set ‘Plaque de Cou’ by Rene Lalique

In the form of a stylized pansy flower, decorated with opaque cream plique-a-jour enamel: the
centre of the bloom finished with foil backed deep blue enamel. The blossom is highlighted by graduations of pave
set diamonds, radiating from the centre into the petals. Mounted in yellow gold, signed ‘LALIQUE’ to the lower edge.

For other examples of plaque de cou by Lalique, see pages 218-237 of ‘Rene Lalique:
Schmuck un Objets d’art 1890-1910’
by Sigrid Barten. This plaque de cou shares, in both design
and manufacture, a great deal with a corsage ornament in the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore (page 414 of Barten’s book).
