Jensen candlestick

 

A silver mounted ebony candlestick of circular form by Georg Jensen,

designed by Arno Malinowski, the base inlaid with stylised botanical motifs in the Japanese taste. c.1940.

Arno Malinowski (1899-1976) was one of Jensen’s most versatile silver designers; he  also worked as a
practicing sculptor, ceramicist, engraver and medallist.  Trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’
School of Sculpture in Copenhagen, he was associated with the Royal Danish Porcelain Manufactory from 1921
to 1935. He subsequently worked for Jensen from 1936 to 1944 and again from 1949 to 1965, creating both
jewellery and silverware for the firm.
