The silversmithing firm of Augustus George Piesse was taken over by Henry William Curry in 1867, who
continued to run the business as a manufacturing silversmith and retailer in antique silver-plate. Henry William Curry
produced many articles of novelty silver during this time, such as salt and pepper shakers in the shape of teeth. This
jug may well be a caricature of a Victorian socialite or political figure.
