Faberge eagle

A hardstone carving of an eagle
by Carl Fabergé,

naturalistically carved from a single piece of Siberian nephrite, with outstretched
open wings, its rose diamond eyes looking imperiously forward.

Signed under its right foot ‘C. Fabergé’, the
Fabergé inventory number 22503 scratched
under its left foot

7.6 cm high

Provenance:

Purchased by Princess Cecile Murat for sixty eight pounds during
a sales trip to Paris by Fabergé’s London branch in December 1912.

Sold by Princess Isabelle Murat on 6th June 1961 Paris, lot 88, the eagle was
illustrated on the cover.
