
An Old Russian style painted and cloisonné enamelled
box by Carl Fabergé,
the cover and sides enamelled in a palette of dark greys, blues, browns and greens
with Old Russian swirl and shaded stylised foliate motifs, two of the sides decorated
with an unusual trellis motif created from filigree, the lid painted in enamel with a scene
within an arch depicting a seventeenth century Noble Couple returning over a bridge
from church with a youth nonchalantly looking on, based on a watercolour
by Sergei Solomko (1867-1928), with silver gilt interior and base.
