A large Imperial guilloché enamelled desk clock and
calendar
by Carl Fabergé,
of rectangular upright form, enamelled translucent opalescent oyster
white over
a guillochage, centred to the top by a circular pearl set bezel, containing
beneath
glass an opaque white enamel dial with Arabic chapters and openwork gold
hands, the apertures for the calendar rolls enamelled in French with the
months,
days of the week and date flanking a flaming silver torch entwined by
laurels,
surmounted by a laurel wreath tied with a bow and mounted to the sides
and fronts
with further silver floral motifs.

In its original silk and blue velvet lined fitted oak case, the lid satin
bearing
the stamp in Cyrillic `K. Fabergé, St. Petersburg, Moscow'.
Purchased by the Dowager Tsarina Maria Feodorvona from Fabergé's St. Petersburg
shop on 9th March 1898 for 600 roubles.
