A Faberge bear,
carved from a single piece of dark green bowenite,
modelled midstep, the eyes set with rose diamonds.
4.6 cm by 2.7 cm
A bear identical to this, apart for being carved in nephrite,
was in the collection
of His Majesty the King of the Hellenes. King Paul's Great Aunt was Tsarina
Marie Feodorovna. His Faberge animals were sold by Sothebys in London
on 25th November 1957 and the bear, pictured above, was lot 114.
