A Pair of 19th Century Gemset and Gold Earrings

in the form of two suspended gold disks, centred with cabochon Turquoises and pearls, framed by small gold spheres. The disks
are suspended from small circular stylised sunbursts, set with pearls.

The manner of the pierced design, from which the disks are suspended, as well as the stylised sunbursts applied to the disks,
are heavily influenced by Chinese aesthetics. The popularity of Chinese design in Western
decorative art, was at its peak in the late 19th Century.
