An
early Victorian silver lily pad chamberstick,
in the form of a three-leaf lily pad,
chased naturalistically with veins and matted finish,
the candle-socket comprised of a central bud with
detachable five-point candle sleeve,
the handle in the form of a curling tendril.
Small 'chamber' or 'hand' candlesticks were carried to bed at night,
thus they were designed to be portable, with ring or scroll handles,
and practical, with large drip-trays.
marked on base and candle sleeve
