Cartier art deco

An art deco platinum and gem-set brooch by Cartier,

of openwork quatrefoil from, the corners set with a deep blue sugarloaf cabochon sapphires,
the brooch out lined with fifty six brilliant-cut diamonds on a galleried mount.

Made by Holl for Cartier Paris circa 1929 .

Contained in its original silk and velvet lined tooled leather case

Marked 'Cartier' and numbered '105'
with dog's head assay mark for platinum and
workshop mark 'CH' flanking a set square,

Diameter 3.8 cm

Holl was supplier of Cartier's shop in Paris. A diamond sautoir made by Holl for Cartier
Paris in 1929 was exhibited in Cartier, 1900-1939 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and
and British Museum in 1997, number 214.
