Brooch Peacock Baugrand

A gold and gem-set brooch by
Gustave Baugrand,


in the form of a peacock poised on a pearl,
the body set with sapphires and diamonds,
the fanned tail feathers set with diamonds,
emeralds and rubies, mounted en tremblant,
- certificated natural pearl.

Gustave Baugrand (1826-1870) was jeweller toEmperor Napoleon III. He exhibited his peacock broochesat the Exposition Universelle of 1867 in a display which won him the cross of the Légion d'Honneur.
