A pair of antique jewelled 'Panther' cufflinks by Boucheron,
in the form of yellow gold panthers' heads, their eyes are set with cabochon
rubies and they hold polished emeralds between their teeth

The cufflinks were designed by Boucheron's designer Lucien Hirtz. A gold buckle incorporating
Panther motifs was exhibited by Boucheron at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900, the
buckle is now in the collection of the British Museum, click here to view it .
Maison Boucheron was founded by Frédéric Boucheron in Paris in 1858. With an emphasis on design and
impeccable craftsmanship the firm achieved lasting acclaim. In the 1878 Expositions Universelle it was
awarded a remarkable three Grand Prix for its goldwork, choice of stones and settings. The success of
the business was reflected by its move in 1893 to a Louis XV style shop at 26 de la Place Vendôme.
Which attracted a fashionable clientele ranging from the Empress Eugénie to Sarah Bernhardt.
