A diamond brooch by Boucheron,
naturalistically set with rose and old brilliant cut diamonds
in the
form of a sprig of Queen Anne's Lace, the platinum mount
articulated by a steel spring.
In its original silk and velvet lined fitted leather case, the
lid
satin stamped 'Fic Boucheron ... Joaillier, Paris-Royal'.
12.7 cm.
The meticulous observation of nature apparent in this brooch
is characteristic of
the work of Ocatve Loeuillard, who specailised in botanical jewels for Boucheron.
Boucheron paid tribute to Loeuillard, by saying he was 'an exemplary worker....
He
is responsible for all my beautiful jewelled flowers. He draws inspiration from
nature in the most astonishing way... he is the author of various ferns- miracles
of
technical problems surmounted- crowned with success'
